Earlier today (16th May), Cardiff City manager Sabri Lamouchi departed the club after owner Vincent Tan made the decision not to offer him a new contract.
Lamouchi, 51, joined the Bluebirds less than four months ago at the end of January, following the sacking of Mark Hudson after only 118 days in charge.
Alongside the Frenchman was former player and Cardiff City legend Sol Bamba, who joined as his assistant.
It has currently not yet been confirmed whether Bamba will keep his position.
The club narrowly avoided relegation to League One in the 2022/23 season, as they finished above Reading, who were deducted six points by the English Football League in early April.
In a statement, Cardiff City FC said:
"Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that Sabri Lamouchi will depart at the conclusion of his current deal.
"Sabri joined the Bluebirds at the end of January 2023, overseeing 18 fixtures, and winning six matches. Cardiff City would like to thank Sabri for his efforts and contribution in helping us secure our place in the Championship for 2023/24 and wish him all the very best for the future.
"The Board of Directors at Cardiff City FC have already begun the process of appointing a new management team."
The outing of Sabri now begins the search for the Bluebirds' third manager in the space of just six months, with many names already circulating in the media and with fans.
One likely candidate is Welsh-born Nathan Jones, who in the past has managed teams such as Luton Town and Southampton.
Other favourites, according to Fanbanter, include former Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder, ex-Portsmouth and Huddersfield Town manager Danny Cowley and Neil Critchley, who took charge of Queens Park Rangers for a small part of last season.
One fan wrote on Twitter:
"We are going nowhere fast. No plan. No direction. No identity. We are rotten from our core. Unfortunately, until we get an owner who actually cares about the club and the fans, things are only going to get worse."
Another said:
"Absolutely ridiculous decision. He achieved his target, was loved by the fans, robbed of consistency yet again. This club is going head first into League 1, this appointment has to be right, it has to be Nathan Jones let's be honest, if not then I really don't know."
