The body of missing man Jamie Moreno was found in a woodland area in Pentwyn yesterday morning, South Wales Police have confirmed.

Jamie, then 48, left his home in the Roath area of Cardiff at around lunchtime on March 23, 2020, the same day the Covid-19 lockdown was announced, and was last seen by a friend in Llanedeyrn later that afternoon.

Police were called to the scene at around 10.42am on Sunday, 12 March, following the discovery by a community search party looking for the long-term missing man.

A police cordon was in place across a path leading to woodland near Circle Way East, Llanedeyrn.

Last month, the daughter of Mr Moreno, Tia, spoke to The Cardiffian, when she described the day her dad went missing.

She said:

"On the day he went missing, me and mum went over (to his house).

"We were there for about an hour or so. I said I would be back over tomorrow. I left a macaroni cheese and thought I could have it the next day.

"He said, ‘I’ll see you tomorrow’. About an hour and a half later, Georgia (Tia's sister) came back and he was gone."

Formal identification of the body has yet not been carried out as enquiries are on-going.

The family of Jamie Moreno are being supported by specialist officers at this very sad time.
