Footage from the National Police Air Service (NPAS) has captured the moment a Cardiff drug dealer was tackled to the ground and arrested by plain-clothed police officers.

Chiko Moyo, aged 18 from the city's Atlantic Wharf area, was found in possession of 57 wraps of crack cocaine and 16 wraps of heroin in Anderson Park, Adamsdown.

The spontaneous arrest, made at 10.30am on March 23rd, was part of Operation Albarn, which aims to prevent and detect drug dealing in the Roath area, with a particular focus on parks.

Sergeant Frankie Baker, of South Wales Police, said:

"Looking for and finding criminals is what we do every day, but a dedicated operation like this enables us to focus our efforts.

"We are committed to arresting drug dealers and keeping local parks safe and family friendly."

Following his arrest, Moyo pleaded guilty at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court to possession with intent to supply both crack cocaine and heroin.

On Friday, 9th June, he was sentenced to 18 months in a Young Offenders Institution for each offence, to run simultaneously.

Sergeant Baker added:

"This is a very sad path for anyone to be going down at such young age and I hope that Moyo can use the time in a young offenders' institution to be rehabilitated.

"We urge parents, carers and teachers to speak to young people about the risks of getting involved in this kind of criminality."
