South Wales Police are currently appealing for information on an incident in Splott yesterday afternoon, which left a 40-year-old male hospitalised after sustaining "serious head injuries".

Detectives from the force would like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity between the hours of 1.00pm and 3.00pm on Sunday, 5 March.

Detective Superintendent Darren George said:

"On Sunday afternoon, at around 2.30pm, South Wales Police was called to a report of a man with serious head injuries in Marion Street, Splott.

"Extensive enquiries are ongoing to ascertain how he came to suffer these injuries and we would appeal for anyone with information to please come forward.

"We would urge anyone who was in the area between 1.00pm and 3pm, or anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage, to please get in touch."

The man remains in a "serious condition" at the University Hospital of Wales.
